Who I am

Hi, I'm Matt Turvey and I am the Fitness Savant. I'm a fitness coach!

15 years ago, I had a career job, a Speedway motor racing career, and a partner I loved very much. But I didn't have control over my health and fitness and over time it got worse and worse. A few years later I'd lost all of that as my health deteriorated and I descended into  depression.


By 2015 I weighed 110 kilos I had been  diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, ADHD, & Asperger’s Syndrome. I lived in constant pain and fatigue, and a doctor told me I should consider spending my life on the disability pension, apply for a commission house, and be happy walking every day. 

How I turned it around!

Since June 2015 I have been exercising to  reclaim my life. I started by walking daily and changing my diet habits. A couple of months later I added twice weekly Pilates classes.  Within a year I added short walks and resistance training at home into my schedule, and in October 2017 I ran 5km’s non-stop for the first time in my life at the first Portarlington Parkrun event. I started running regularly and my next challenge was to run 10km’s non-stop which I achieved at the Bellarine Sunset Run in  February 2018. 


Over the next few years, I continued running, walking, and Pilates as well as getting myself more immersed in resistance training. A couple of my Pilates instructors had encouraged me to become a coach and the more I thought about it the more I liked the idea. I really liked the idea of helping others reclaim their lives just like I had!
